Success Story: UniStudents

In 2020, while still students at the National Technical University of Athens, Dimitris Koufopanos, Christos Kouskouris, and Ilias Mouchlis realized something most university students in Greece could relate to: there was no single platform to help them manage their academic life. From outdated university portals to scattered notes and deadlines, the digital student experience was broken.

What started as an idea sketched between lectures turned into UniStudents -a platform created by students, for students. Their mission was clear: simplify academic life with a tool that actually works.

From Student Idea to National Platform

The team of UniStudents joined the 2023-2024 Compass Cycle of ACE to accelerate development. What began as a grassroots initiative evolved into a comprehensive digital companion for students across Greece, bringing together  academic calendars, course materials, grade calculators, university news, and community features—all in one seamless and intuitive platform.

Adopting a user-centric development approach, the platform evolves continuously through direct feedback from the student community, in close collaboration with academic institutions and student associations.

Key Achievements:

  • Nationwide Adoption:
Over 200,000 students from all 25 universities in Greece actively use UniStudents, making it the go-to platform for student life management.
  • Strategic Funding:
In 2022, UniStudents secured pre-seed funding of €140,000 from Genesis Ventures, enabling the team to scale the platform, launch new features, and expand user growth.
  • Award-Winning Innovation:
UniStudents has been recognized in multiple innovation and entrepreneurship competitions for its user-first design, technical reliability, and real-world impact on academic life.

Empowering the Next Generation of Students

UniStudents is redefining the digital academic experience in Greece. Its growth from a student project to a widely adopted national platform is a testament to the power of student-led innovation, the importance of problem-solving through technology, and the value of the right incubation and support ecosystem.
