In 2014, two engineers—Nikos Zinas and Panos Mitsios—met at the ACE incubator, attending the Compass Cycle to accelerate the development of their ventures. Getting access to expert mentorship and business tools helped them identify shortcomings in the business model of their companies. Instead of quitting, they decided to join forces and participate in the Digital Gate, the Open Innovation program organized by ACE and the Athens International Airport (AIA).
Their aim was to address a major gap in how frontline teams in critical industries manage their daily operations: relying on paper forms, static spreadsheets, and siloed communication was slowing down processes that needed to be fast, traceable, and secure. The success of the pilot project run for AIA, drove them to the decision to start a new venture.
What started as a side project to help organizations digitize basic workflows quickly evolved into a broader vision: a no-code operations platform that empowers teams to automate safety checks, maintenance, inspections, and emergency protocols—all without writing a single line of code. With this goal in mind, Tekmon was born in 2018.
